Banking System
Israel maintains a modern computerized banking system. Most banks provide private banking services and maintain special centers for tourists and foreign investors. The five large Israeli banks are:
Israeli financial institutions, generally speaking, have weathered the world financial crisis well, because they had little exposure to the "toxic" securities that caused the failure of many other banks. Moreover, Israeli banks have always been under tight government supervision and are required to set stringent conditions for mortgage approvals.
